There are a couple of different ways to make this work. You could purchase small boxes for shipping but why spend the money when you can get them from the USPS (United States Postal Service) or make them for free for a little time will translate into money where you want it, in your pocket.

USPS Free Priority Mail Boxes

The priority mail boxes that you can get from the USPS are perfect size for the items you need a small box for and the best part of them all is they are free.

All you have to do is visit the local post office and go to the front counter and ask for the smallest flat rate box that they have. The one thing that you need to keep in mind is they are perfect for priority mail but you can’t use them for parcel post. Though also getting them from the USPS doesn’t mean that you need to use them with the USPS. Remember when you’re shipping packing boxes that every ounce counts against the profit margin so you’ll want to make sure you use a small enough boxes to make it work for you not against you.

Finding Free Boxes

Next time you’re going shopping for groceries and notice that they are stocking you’ll notice that the stockers are breaking down the cardboard boxes that the products are coming in. They are usually breaking them down and then putting them right next to the items that they are stocking.

In order to get these cardboard boxes all you have to do is ask. There are virtually no stores that aren’t going to give you some, most or all of the small boxes that you want for free. When it comes to looking for good, clean and small shipping boxes that you can use for your shipping the pharmacy, electronics, or cosmetics departments are going to be your best places to look.

If you happen to not make it during the time they are stocking no worry as they usually haven’t discarded everything yet. All you have to do is ask if they have any broken down boxes that haven’t been thrown away yet, and you’ll use these boxes for shipping. Even if they have the majority of stores recycle so you could get them out without having to worry about any other type of trash staining or destroying the boxes you’re looking for.

Regardless of what small shipping box option you go with you’ll be able to save significant amounts of money in the long term by just being a little creative and getting your small shipping boxes free of charge.
